Please note: Typical example of this basic task is

• one (or more) users are supposed to have root access to the resource
• one (or more) users are supposed to have access to the particular machine/cluster/storage/software

Inner structure of system isn't constructed for assigning an individual member to a single resource. As far as computing accounts are concerned, all VO members can use all resources in scope of the VO. To refine the resource utilization and to distinguish VO members requirements, VO members can be incorporated into (one or more) groups. Groups work as subunits of VO and VO resources can be assigned to the group depending on services that these groups utilize. As a consequence of adding a member into specific group, member gain an access to all resources assigned to the group. Not only resources, but also services could be assigned to the group. As the result, group of members with specific access rights to resources can be created.

WARNING: This manual includes instructions for this use-case only. If you use other instructions you can cause unwanted functioning of system.

VO MANAGER role needed

• Please log in into the Perun system and then go to the VO Manager section.
• On the left panel please click on Select VO. Now you can see the list of the VOs under your administration.
• Please choose the desired VO, where would you like to add member to resource. There will appear a new panel with the VO settings.

• select option Overview

• in the area Quick tools click on the button Add member to resource
• fill member's name or logname into a searching area and press the button Search

• select a member by ticking the check-box and press the button Add

• click on the button Continue
• small frame for a resource selection is displayed

• • you can select resource according to the facility where resource is located
  • ..................OR...................
  • you can select resource directly
  • in both cases services assigned to the resource are displayed
  • press the Continue button

• a list of groups assigned to resource is displayed

• • you can select from displayed groups by ticking the check-box and click on the button Add to group
  • ..................OR...................
  • if no group suits your requirements, you can create new one by pressing button Create group
  • frame for creation of group is displayed and you have to fill:
    • Name for group name
    • Description for purpose of group creation
    • check-box As sub-group for creating group as sub-group, in that case the menu Parent group is displayed to select parent group for newly created group
  • click on the Create button to create new group

• • (click on the Cancel if you don;t want create new group)
  • now, you can select newly created group by ticking the check-box and click on the button Add to group
• confirmation window is displayed with list of resources where the member will be assigned

• in case that list of resources (where group and your selected member is assigned) is suitable press the button OK - group is assigned to all listed resources

• if it is not suitable click on the button Cancel and it returns you back to selection of group
